Praised for her “elegant and sensitive playing,” Sara has developed her growing passion for the Romantic and 20th-century repertoire thanks to her teachers.

She brings with her the Italian piano school combined with the Russian piano tradition.

Sara Costa began studying piano at the age of 8 and grew up in a small town in the Bergamo area in a family of music lovers. After graduating with honors from the “G. Donizetti” Conservatory of Bergamo, Italy, Sara Costa embraced the Russian piano school since 2007, following for many years the teachings of internationally renowned pianist and pedagogue Konstantin Bogino, who became her mentor, and his assistants Svetlana Bogino and Vladimir Ogarkov, continuers of the piano tradition of the legendary Heinrich Neuhaus.

In addition, Sara has been selected to participate in numerous prestigious masterclasses at major institutions such as the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, and the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris with such esteemed musicians as Norma Fisher, Sergei Dorensky, Andrzej Jasinski, Vasilly Lobanov, Pavel Gililov, Mats Widlund, Alexei Kornienko, Marian Rybicki, and Martin Roscoe. Encounters that deeply enriched her education.

Sara Costa's charismatic musicality and her dedication to chamber music have created numerous human and artistic collaborations around the world and resulted in interesting chamber music projects.

Since 2014 Sara has had a highly regarded piano duo with her husband, pianist Fabiano Casanova.

In terms of discography, her two solo albums “Correspondences” (2020) and “Evocations” (2024), published by Da Vinci Classics.

Her CDs have been reviewed and awarded in prestigious magazines such as Rivista Musica, Amadeus Magazine, Pizzicato Magazine and MusicWeb International, Music Voice, OperaTeatro, AboutArt online and CIDIM.

Her recordings have been featured on the Italian RAI broadcasting a dedicated interview on Radio 3 Piazza Verdi, Radio 3 Suite, Radio 3 Primo Movimento, Radio Classica, Radio Vaticana and from the Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler on his program “Between the Keys” on the New York Radio WWFM.

He has also recorded chamber music albums for Brilliant Classics, Da Vinci Classics, Wide Classique, Digressione Label, always praised by international critics.

Sara's interest in synesthetic experiences in music led her to start the Associazione Culturale Cluster with the aim of promoting music and projects of contamination between the arts. In 2016 she inaugurated her chamber music festival - Il Castello Armonico - in historic homes in the lower Bergamo area, now in its seventh edition. Combining music, art, and the promotion of young musicians, the festival invites artists and audiences to enjoy great music in venues other than big-city theaters.

Believing strongly in the healing power of music, it has often performed in hospitals, nursing homes and prisons.

In addition to her concert and recording activities, Sara Costa has devoted herself to teaching with passion and great commitment for over 20 years.

She has been teaching in Italian conservatories since 2013 and is now Piano Professor at the “G.Tartini” Conservatory in Trieste.

She is often invited to give masterclasses at the Perosi Academy in Biella, the “B.Gigli” School of Music in Recanati.

Moved by a genuine love for sharing emotions and experiences in music and a tireless desire for research and in-depth study, Sara Costa is counted among the best Italian pianists.
